Mother's Cake is an Austrian band playing a mix of funk, hardrock and progressive/psychedelic music. It was formed by Yves Krismer (guitar, vocals), Benedikt Trenkwalder (bass) and Jan Haußels (drums) in 2008. Their distinctive sound is influenced by diverse bands such as The Mars Volta, Porcupine Tree, RHCP and Bootsy Collins among others.
The band came in third place out of roughly 1000 bands at ILA 2010 and won the biggest band contest in Austria - Local Heroes

Smack The Machine
From our latest EP, written around the time of the general election the chorus reads "The full force of the blue, the full force of the red" which can obviously be related to the Labour and Conservative battle. The ideas aren't limited at that though, it could also be a simple case of comparing hot to cold, good buy to bad buy, even football teams Manchester United and Manchester City.

Asylum Insane
From our latest EP, 'Asylum Insane' is about an insane asylum essentially, or at least our take on what life can be like inside one. The long and everlasting length adds to the exhausting and draining lifestyle people can endure inside an insane asylum.
